Four hospitalized in six-vehicle pile-up in Hanoi

Four people were rushed to the hospital after an accident involving three cars and three motorbikes in Hanoi on Tuesday, only three days before the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The pile-up occurred at around 3:40 pm near the Tran Phu - Luong Ngoc Quyen intersection in Ha Dong District, with a Camry first crashing into three two-wheelers, according to eyewitnesses.

The car, with the motorbikes still stuck underneath, then hit a seven-seater sedan and continued its ‘crazy run’ for about ten meters. The Camry did not come to a complete halt until it smashed into a taxi.

The Camry driver fled the scene while four injured drivers were rushed to the hospital. A number of plastic debris was seen at the scene of accident, with the Camry having its head completely deformed.

Nguyen Duc Thang, deputy head of a local traffic police team, said his officers were present at the scene almost immediately to moderate traffic.

Ha Dong police said they are still investigating the case.
